Just bask in the pool, lake-view spa or sauna, play a round of golf on TAHOE CITY GOLF COURSE which is adjacent to the Travelodge or walk across the street to the new $6 million COMMONS BEACH that has a playground for all ages. Adjacent to the motel is the BLUE AGAVE Restaurant that is located in one of Lake Tahoe's most historic buildings still standing, the unique TAHOE INN. You will discover, within walking distance, three unique shopping malls, such as the Swiss-village-inspired Cobblestone Mall and many restaurants that provide places to relax and enjoy beautiful LAKE TAHOE. You need drive only ten minutes to take the TRAM (summer or winter) to the SQUAW VALLEY ski area, site of the 1960 Olympic Winter Games and only one of fifteen Alpine ski areas and eleven cross-country ski areas that can be reached in a short time. Other interesting areas include Emerald Bay, Donner Memorial Museum, Virginia City Mining town and North Shore and Reno Casinos, all within 15 to 40 minutes driving time. | Enter US-395 going North until you reach Interstate 80 where you will take I-80 towards Sacramento and San Francisco. Take I-80 West about 30 miles until you pass Truckee where you will take US-89 South towards Squaw Valley and Tahoe City. After traveling South for about 13 miles on US-89, you will come to a stop light at the intersection of Highways 89 and 28. Go straight ahead about 300 yards and you will find the Travelodge on the left, directly across from beautiful Lake Tahoe. Take Interstate 5 South until you reach Interstate 80 where you should take I-80 East towards Reno, Nevada. Proceed on I-80 approximately 80 miles until you go down the East side of Donner Pass. Just before you reach Truckee, you should take US-89 South towards Squaw Valley and Tahoe City. After about 13 miles on US-89 South, you will come to a stop light at the intersection of highways 89 and 28. Go straight ahead for about 300 yards, and you will find the Travelodge on the left, directly across from beautiful Lake Tahoe. Take Interstate 80 towards Reno, Nevada. CARD they receive upon registration at our hotel: --Enjoy Karaoke fun, starting at 8 PM each Tuesday night at The BLUE AGAVE Restaurant. Spectacular views await you as you drive around Lake Tahoe, 22 miles in length, 12 miles in width and containing enough water to cover the entire state of California to 14 inches deep. A fifteen minute drive takes you to the BILTMORE, CAL NEVA and CRYSTAL BAY Casinos on the North Shore and it's only a 40 minute drive to the colorful high-energy nightlife of Reno, Nevada. Take your time as you drive around the lake and visit historical spots such as the DONNER LAKE MUSEUM and historic VIRGINIA CITY where highlights include the Fourth Ward School, Piper's Opera House and the newspaper for which Mark Twain toiled as Samuel Clemens. You can also take the V&T Railroad Tour, a 35-minute round-trip tour taking you from Virginia City to Gold Hill and back. |

    The rear deck of the Travelodge overlooks the TAHOE CITY GOLF COURSE and is only a short walk to the clubhouse or tennis court. There are also seven more golf courses within a 10 to 20 minute drive and more than 50 other courses within a 90 minute drive. Numerous activities, most within walking distance, are available and many give a discount to Travelodge guests who show their VIG cards: * Kids of all ages will enjoy the pool table and Video Arcade room at The BLUE GAVE Rest next door. * The eighteen-wheeler TAHOE GAL has cruises from Mid-May thru October available from the pier at Tahoe City(800)218-2464 * Boat rentals, speedboat rides, Jet Ski rentals or Parasailing are available at Tahoe City Marina (530-583-1039) * Rafting on the Truckee River, a relaxing way to unwind. * Kayaking on the lake is becoming more prominent each year. * Horseback riding at Squaw Valley Stables, a 10-minute drive away. * Fishing on the Lake or Truckee River OR, if you prefer, just watch the large fish at "Fanny Bridge" * Get "hooked" on fishing year-round with "Mickee's Big Mack Charter Boat 800-877-1462 or 546-4444). * Enjoy the "4th of July Fireworks Display" from the hotel decks. TART buses are available to Homewood and other areas. * Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area (530-583-5475), only two miles east of our hotel has over 65 kilometers of well-groomed trails and 2 trailside warming huts with beautiful views of Lake Tahoe. * Take a scenic Cable Car ride at Squaw Valley, a spectacular ride of 2000 vertical feet to High Camp where you can also enjoy ice skating for the whole family. Skating lessons are available at High Camp. You can also "snowtube" in a spectacular bowl outside High Camp. * Snowmobiles may be rented on the snow-covered golf course behind our hotel.
